Big Wins for Qatar’s Hotels

Qatar’s hotels didn’t just do well—they excelled. Here’s how they performed in December:

  • Occupancy: Hotels were 78.5% full on average, an impressive 8.5% jump from the previous year.
  • Daily Rates: Guests paid an average of QAR489.03 (around $134.40), a 15% rise that reflects Qatar’s premium hospitality offerings.
  • Revenue per Room: Hotels earned an average of QAR384.02 per room, up by 24.8%.

These numbers show how Qatar’s hospitality industry thrived during one of its busiest months yet.


What Made December So Special?

A series of high-profile events and celebrations brought excitement and energy to Qatar, boosting hotel stays across the country:

  1. Grand Prix Final (December 1)
    The month kicked off with a bang! The Grand Prix finale saw hotels almost fully booked, with 91.9% occupancy. Guests paid an average of QAR619.18 per night, bringing in record-breaking revenue.
  2. FIFA International Cup Finals (December 18)
    Football fever took over as Qatar hosted the FIFA International Cup Finals. Hotels saw 80.8% occupancy, and rooms were in high demand at QAR488.89 per night on average.
  3. New Year’s Eve (December 31)
    The year ended on a high note with New Year’s celebrations drawing visitors in droves. Hotels charged a premium, with room rates peaking at QAR663.56, the highest for the month, and revenues soaring to QAR606.98 per room.

Even on quieter days, hotels stayed busy, with occupancy rarely dipping below 70%.
