Qatar Tourism Strengthens Ties with Oman’s Cruise Sector

Qatar Tourism recently visited Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat, Oman, to enhance collaboration in the cruise tourism industry. The visit, held from November 27-28, 2024, included representatives from Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, Mwani, and the General Authority of Customs. Together, they met with Omani officials from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Asyad, and the Royal Oman Police to discuss opportunities for growth and cooperation.

During the discussions, several crucial topics were addressed:

Strengthening Regional Collaboration: Qatar and Oman underscored the importance of working together to create a unified approach to developing cruise tourism in the Gulf.

Improving Passenger Experience: Both nations emphasized streamlining immigration and customs procedures to ensure a hassle-free experience for cruise travelers.

Enhancing Port Logistics: The delegation shared operational strategies to improve cruise terminal management and efficiency.

Omar Al Jaber, Chief of the Tourism Development Sector at Qatar Tourism, expressed the value of this collaboration, emphasizing that such partnerships drive sustainable growth and improve passenger experiences.


The Bigger Picture

Qatar’s cruise sector continues to grow, with over 90 ships expected during the 2024-2025 season. This visit reflects Qatar’s focus on diversifying its economy and improving its global standing as a top tourist destination.
